Beyond Food Deliveries, Zomato’s New Song Celebrates the Dreams of Its Delivery Partners
Every food delivery has a familiar sight: a delivery partner arriving at the doorstep with a bag of food. But behind every order is a person with a life, responsibilities and dreams that go far beyond the next delivery.Bringing these stories into the spotlight, Zomato has released a new music campaign celebrating the lives and aspirations of its 31 lakh delivery partners. The song shifts attention from the food reaching customers to the people making it happen, highlighting how they balance demanding work with family responsibilities, education and personal ambitions. The campaign offers a reminder that delivery partners are not just part of a service. They are individuals working towards their own goals while supporting themselves and their families.Stories That Go Beyond the Delivery BagThe new song builds on Zomato's broader efforts to highlight the personal journeys of its delivery partners. Through its Humans of Zomato series on YouTube, the company has showcased first-hand accounts of people whose experiences reflect resilience, determination and the desire for a better life. One story that drew widespread attention was that of Mumbai-based delivery partner Uma Shankar, who reportedly completed more than 1,000 deliveries in a month, working around 411 hours and earning over ₹1.04 lakh during that period.Stories of differently-abled delivery partners navigating the streets using wheelchairs, modified carts and bicycles have also highlighted the determination of people working to earn a living despite physical challenges.Recognising the Human Side of Gig WorkZomato's storytelling initiatives come amid wider conversations about the working conditions and dignity of gig workers. The company has also faced criticism over some of its advertising campaigns, prompting it to explain that its intention was to place delivery partners at the centre of the story and portray them as the heroes.According to a media report, in another effort to understand their everyday challenges, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and his wife, Grecia Munoz, spent a day working as delivery agents in Gurugram. The experience brought attention to practical difficulties faced by gig workers, including access to buildings and convenient order pickup arrangements.Every Dream Deserves a SpotlightWith its latest song, Zomato is once again turning the spotlight on the people behind its vast delivery network. Their lives involve much more than navigating traffic and carrying food orders. They include ambitions to study, provide for loved ones, achieve financial independence and build a brighter future.By putting these aspirations to music, the campaign invites audiences to look beyond the delivery bag and recognise the human stories behind every order.
