ISRO plans to launch it’s powerful most rocket in June

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set  launch its most powerful rocket in June. The rocket has a  capacity to  transport communications satellite which are 4-tonne and heavier. This is first time that ISRO is embarking on such a mission. It will send  the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle(GSLV) Mark-III in space next month. At present the ISRO  has the capacity to send payloads of up to 2.2 tonnes into the intended orbit in space. Any satellite more than this payload has to be launched from foreign facilities. GSLV Mark-III would  be ISRO’s most powerful launch vehicle developed  to send the largest Indian communications satellites to space. It can put in to space satellites which are of double the weight than the present GSLV-Mark-II is capable of lifting. These satellite can carry Ka and Ku-band payload besides a Geostationary Radiation Spectrometer (GRASP) payload. The launch of this  GSLV  would be a leap in being self- sufficient for the India’s space programme as well as a greater share of the multi-billion dollar international space market, as reported by the Economic Times. ISRO Chairman AS Kiran Kumar told reporters in Hyderabad, “GSLV Mark-III is our next launch. We are getting ready. All the systems are in Sriharikota. The integration is currently going on,"  adding further,  "The whole process of assembling the various stages and then integrating the satellite into the heat shield, these activities are going on. First week of June is when we are targeting this launch."
