The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully carried out its first rocket launch test with a satellite in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, on June 14. This historic moment marks the first time a payload has been launched from the state, and it's proof of India's growing power in space technology.

A Collaboration of Excellence

The rocket launch test was conducted in collaboration with Thrust Tech India Limited, a company that specializes in rocket propulsion systems. The test involved a 15 kg rocket that soared to an altitude of 1.1 kilometers before deploying a small satellite. The satellite, equipped with a parachute, safely landed within 400 meters on the ground, marking a complete success.

A Leap Forward for India's Space Program

This achievement is significant for India's space program, as it demonstrates the country's capability to launch satellites from different locations. The test also sets the stage for future satellite tests scheduled for October-November, where nearly 900 youth-built satellites will be tested. This initiative is part of the ‘IN-SPACe CANSAT and Model Rocketry India Student Competition,’ a joint effort by the Astronautical Society of India (ASI), the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), and ISRO.
