For decades, India Post has been the backbone of communication across the country, connecting cities, towns, and remote villages. From handwritten letters to parcels carrying emotions, it has always been more than just a delivery service. Now, in a bold and modern move, India Post is redefining its image with the launch of ‘24 Speed Post’ on March 17, 2026. Announced by the Ministry of Communications, this premium service promises guaranteed next-day (D+1) delivery, aiming to compete directly with private courier giants and meet the demands of today’s fast-paced world.
‘24 Speed Post’ is a new express delivery service designed for urgent and time-sensitive consignments. Unlike traditional postal services, this offering guarantees that parcels will reach their destination within 24 hours across select metro cities. The launch event, held at Rangbhawan Auditorium in New Delhi, is being presided over by Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani. This initiative marks a significant step in India Post’s transformation into a modern logistics player.
In its initial rollout, ‘24 Speed Post’ will be available across six major metro cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. These cities have been chosen due to their high volume of business, e-commerce activity, and connectivity. Alongside this, India Post is also introducing a ‘48 Speed Post’ service, ensuring delivery within two days (D+2), offering flexibility for different customer needs.
What makes ‘24 Speed Post’ by India Post truly stand out is not just its speed, but the smart combination of technology, security, and convenience it brings together. The service offers a guaranteed next-day (D+1) delivery, giving customers confidence that their urgent parcels will arrive on time, backed by a money-back guarantee in case of delays. To enhance safety, it includes OTP-based secure delivery, ensuring that packages are handed over only to the intended recipient, reducing the chances of errors or fraud. Along with this, real-time tracking and SMS alerts allow customers to monitor their shipments at every stage, bringing complete transparency to the process. For businesses and e-commerce platforms, the service goes a step further by offering practical and efficient solutions such as free pickup for bulk shipments, API integration for smooth logistics operations, centralised billing systems, and even a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) facility. Together, these features make ‘24 Speed Post’ not just a fast delivery option but a modern, reliable, and business-friendly logistics solution.
The launch of ‘24 Speed Post’ is part of a larger transformation driven by the Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0 project. This initiative has already introduced features like real-time tracking and OTP-based delivery systems. The results are visible. According to government data, India Post’s parcel revenue has grown significantly, reaching ₹802.11 crore in FY 2025–26 (till February), up from ₹755.47 crore in FY 2023–24. Partnerships with major platforms like Amazon, Shiprocket, Decathlon, and ONDC have also contributed to this growth.
India Post has long been seen as traditional, slow, and outdated by younger generations. But initiatives like ‘24 Speed Post’ are changing that perception. By blending its legacy of trust with new-age technology, India Post is proving that it can evolve with time while staying true to its roots. The launch of ‘24 Speed Post’ is more than just a new service; it is a statement. It signals India Post’s intent to compete, innovate, and lead in the logistics space. As the demand for faster deliveries continues to grow, this initiative could redefine how millions of Indians send and receive parcels. In the end, it’s not just about delivering packages in 24 hours; it’s about delivering trust, speed, and connection in a rapidly changing world.
