At an age when most children are still discovering their favourite sports, 10-year-old Nyra Sharma is already aiming for the national stage.

The young shooter from Delhi has become the youngest Indian to qualify for the National Championship, earning her place in the 10m air rifle event with an impressive score of 363 out of 400 at the recently concluded All India Inter School Shooting Championship in Bhopal.

Her achievement is even more remarkable because Nyra has only just begun her competitive shooting journey.

A Remarkably Fast Rise

Nyra made her competitive debut at the Delhi State Championship in June. Just a month later, she competed at the India Open in Dehradun. Then came her third competition.

At the All India Inter School Shooting Championship in Bhopal, Nyra delivered the score she needed to secure qualification for the Nationals. In just a few months, the young shooter has gone from making her first appearance on the competition circuit to earning a place among the country’s national-level qualifiers.

Nyra trains at the TOPGUN Shooting Academy in Delhi, where she is now preparing for the National Championship scheduled to be held later this year.

Shooting demands patience, precision and immense concentration. For Nyra, developing these qualities at such a young age has already begun to produce remarkable results.

Her father, Prashant Sharma, expressed his pride in her achievement and credited her discipline and determination. He also acknowledged the role played by TOPGUN Shooting Academy in guiding and supporting her journey.

The Beginning of a Bigger Journey

For Nyra, the National Championship is not the destination. It is the next target. Having entered competitive shooting only a few months ago, qualifying for the Nationals at 10 years and three months marks an extraordinary beginning to her sporting career.

With the Nationals now in sight, Nyra’s journey is only beginning—and this young shooter is already showing that big dreams can take aim at any age.
